Today was my first day of the Personal Development training week where I was able to meet new people from the course I will be studying, as well as other candidates from the different courses. We all took part in tasks which involved team work but also for us to debate and really think about the topic of conversation.
We first spoke about the ways of travel as a warm up task, as you can see in the image below are the forms of transport we come up with. There was no limit or boundaries for which the form of transport it could be.

The second image was a task called ‘Paradise Island’ as we discussed the terms regarding equality & diversity. We learnt what was acceptable about what you can say towards/about people. This was a real eye opener as the reasons and arguments we discussed came naturally to us without realising what we were saying was impolitically correct.
The access of Tootoot was explained to us and what it is there for if we are to become a victim to either of these terms. (Equality & Diversity)
After going through certain paperwork and expectations from the academy we swiftly moved on to speak about Extremism & Radicalisation. Not just the relevant key words, but how to act in a situation that we may come across after watching a couple of YouTube clips (Run, Hide, Call).
Lastly, we turned to Stereotypes and our perceptions towards certain groups. How these were influenced and what might have influenced the individuals to become part of that society group.
Overall I felt like the first day of training was a success which let me learn from a different perspective.
